Dental Technology
In the dental field, technology is continually evolving, and our dental team at Dentistry on the Ponds is dedicated to keeping up with the latest innovations. As an extremely tech-forward dental office, we’re constantly adapting our approach to dentistry treatment as new, better methods and tools are created. So, you can be sure that you and your loved ones are always receiving the highest possible quality of care. Below, you can learn about some of the advanced dental services and technology we use and how it improves your experience at our dental office!
Intraoral Camera
If you’ve ever had trouble understanding what your dentist was talking about during your exams, our intraoral camera can shed some light on the situation! This pen-like instrument captures crystal-clear images as we maneuver it around your mouth. Since these images are projected onto a chairside monitor, you can see exactly what our team sees in real time. That way, you’ll have a helpful visual aid when we’re discussing our treatment recommendations.
Digital X-Rays
Many oral health issues can’t be viewed on the surface, which is where dental X-rays come in. Today, we use fully digital X-rays, which eliminate nearly all of the shortcomings of traditional film X-rays. For example, we can now capture sharper images of your oral anatomy in mere seconds rather than waiting for grainy images to be developed in a darkroom. This technology is also much safer, as it reduces radiation exposure by up to 90%.
Digital Impression System
Dental impressions let us create an accurate mold of your bite, allowing us to design a nightguard, crown, veneer, or other restoration that perfectly fits your smile. Traditionally, dentists have taken impressions by pressing a chunk of foul-tasting, gag-inducing putty over the patient’s teeth, but today, the process is much more comfortable and accurate thanks to our digital impression system. All we need to do is take a few scans of your mouth, and this device generates a precise model on which to base your restoration.
Soft Tissue Laser Dentistry
Lasers are becoming increasingly popular in the dental field, which is good news! By using a highly concentrated light beam, our DenMat SOL soft tissue laser can make a variety of procedures more precise and comfortable, particularly those involving the gums. For instance, when treating gum disease, we can remove only the diseased portions of the tissue while preserving the remaining healthy tissue. Most patients experience little to no discomfort with the soft tissue laser and don’t even need local anesthesia!
CBCT Scanner
The Cone Beam Computerized Tomography (CBCT) scanner is a highly advanced device designed to capture 3D x-rays of your many complex oral structures. With the CBCT scanner, we can not only create better treatment plans, but more accurately diagnose issues when they appear. This painless scanner rotates around your head to capture multiple high-quality images and is completely painless. This type of technology is beneficial when handling complex dental cases that require looking more closely at the jawbone and tooth orientation.
The Wand™
Has a fear of pain kept you from receiving much-needed dental care? Thanks to The Wand™, that will no longer be an issue! This thin device enables us to administer local anesthesia in a completely painless way. It gently numbs the area so that you barely feel the injection, if you feel it at all. Additionally, it releases the anesthesia at a slow, low-pressure rate and in a single targeted location. As a result, you’ll only feel numb in the area we’re treating; you won’t need to deal with one whole side of your face feeling numb for hours afterward.
