What Is All-on-X?

All-on-X is a way to replace a full arch of teeth using four to six dental implants. The implants are placed in your jawbone, and a custom bridge of new teeth is attached to them. It’s also called All-on-4 or All-on-6, depending on how many implants you need.

Unlike regular dentures, your new teeth are fixed in place. They don’t slip, there’s no adhesive, and you brush them like natural teeth.

Snap-In Implant Dentures

Snap-in dentures, also called implant-supported overdentures, clip onto two to four implants. They stay put while you eat and talk, but you can take them out at night to clean them.

Already wear dentures that slip or rub? Many patients can upgrade to snap-in or All-on-X. Call us at (952) 906-0200 to find out if you’re a candidate.

Why Patients Choose All-on-X

All-on-X gives you a full set of teeth that look, feel and work like the real thing. Here's what changes for most patients.

Teeth That Stay Put

Your new teeth are fixed to implants, so there's no slipping, clicking or messy adhesive.

Eat What You Love

Bite into apples, steak and corn on the cob again. Implants handle much more chewing force than dentures.

Protects Your Jawbone

Implants help keep the bone in your jaw healthy, which helps prevent the sunken look that comes with missing teeth.

A Natural-Looking Smile

Dr. Mehta designs your new teeth around your face, so they look like they belong to you.

All-on-X vs. Snap-In Dentures: Which Is Right for You?

Dr. Monil Mehta explains the difference between fixed All-on-X teeth and removable snap-in dentures, so you can see which option fits your needs. All-on-X is also part of our full-mouth reconstruction treatments.

The All-on-X Process, Step by Step

Most patients go from first visit to final teeth over a few months. Here's what each step looks like.

  1. Step 01

    Consultation and 3D Scan

Dr. Mehta examines your mouth and takes 3D images of your jaw to check your bone and plan where each implant should go.

  2. Step 02

    Digital Treatment Plan

We design your new smile around your face and decide how many implants you need, usually four to six per arch.

  3. Step 03

    Implant Placement

Any failing teeth are removed and the implants are placed in your jaw. Sedation is available to keep you relaxed and comfortable.

  4. Step 04

    Temporary Teeth While You Heal

You wear a temporary set of teeth while the implants bond with your jawbone, which usually takes a few months.

  5. Step 05

    Your Final Smile

Once you've healed, we attach your custom final teeth, check your bite and show you how to care for them.

All-on-X vs. Snap-In Dentures

Both use implants to hold your teeth in place. The big difference is whether your teeth come out.

Snap-in dentures

  • Cost less
  • Need fewer implants
  • Come out at night for easy cleaning

All-on-X

  • Fixed in place and never comes out
  • Feels and chews most like natural teeth
  • No plate covering the roof of your mouth

Chanhassen's Top Dentist

The cost depends on how many implants you need, whether you're treating one arch or both, and the type of final teeth you choose. We'll give you a clear quote at your consultation, and financing is available to help spread out payments.

All-on-X is a good fit if you're missing most of your teeth, have teeth that are failing, or are tired of loose dentures. We'll take 3D images at your consultation to check your jawbone and make sure implants are right for you.

With good care, the implants themselves can last for decades. The teeth attached to them may need to be repaired or replaced over time, just like any dental restoration. Regular checkups help keep everything in great shape.

You'll be numb during the procedure, and sedation is available if you'd like to be more relaxed. Most patients have some soreness and swelling for a few days afterward, which is usually managed with medication.

Brush twice a day and clean under your bridge with a water flosser or special floss. You'll also come in for regular cleanings so we can check your implants and keep your gums healthy.

Some dental plans cover part of the cost, especially for extractions or the implants themselves. Coverage varies a lot between plans, so our team will check your benefits for you before treatment.
